Keyboard Wedge & USB Interface:

The swipe reader with Keyboard Wedge interface can be attached to a computer via the standard computer keyboard, the built-in keyboard wedge decoder is capable to read the row TTL analog signal and translate it into the keyboard emulation signal, so that the MSR series Swipe Card Reader with keyboard wedge or USB interface is fully Plug&Play - (No software driver is needed) since its input to the Computer screen is exactly the same as whatever you have typed on a PC keyboard. 

RS-232 (Serial) Interface:

The MSR series Magnetic Card Reader with RS232 decoder (serial interface) cannot display the read data / texts directly to the computer applications such as Windows Notepad or Microsoft Office Word, instead of generating keyboard emulations, the RS232 decoder will transform the TTL signal into standard RS-232 DataStream.  Therefore, the serial Mag-Stripe Card reader can only work with the software applications that supports RS232 communication protocol. 

The serial card reader requires external power source, there is a piece of Keyboard Power Take-Off cable is shipped along with the product so that reader is able to obtain the power supply from computer's keyboard port, alternatively, the reader can also powered any serial port that supplies 5V DC power (inside positive) to its Pin Nine while the RS-232 connector of Tysso Magstripe card readers has VCC +5V enabled on the same pin.

Further more, The Serial Magstripe Card Reader can be acted as a dumb terminal by attaching it to a TYSSO Serial-Ethernet Converter (Device Server) for remote and access control applications, the major advantage of making such connection with a Serial-Ethernet Converter is to save the hardware and installation costs since the swipe card reader devices can be monitored and controlled by the software application on any computers that is belong to your LAN or WAN, and there is absolutely no requirement for setup an additional PC unit to work with the Magstripe card reader, instead, you can simply connect the magnetic card reader directly to any LAN port (Ethernet LAN Card, Hubs, or Wireless Access Points) that is close by.

ISO and JIS-II (2-in-1) Standards Compatibility (Optional)

Tysso Magnetic stripe card readers are comply with ISO standard (TATA/ABA/THRIFT) as default, However, we are able to integrate the JIS-II (Japanese Standard) reading capability into our standard decoder to make the decoding for both Magstripe standards at the same time possible.

Decoding Capability of optional 5 or 7 bit on ISO track 2 (Optional)

The standard recording capacity on the ISO track 2 of a piece of magnetic stripe card is 5 bit (up to 40 numeric characters), However, some of the applications nowadays are recording 7 bit (107 numeric characters) on the same ISO track 2,  Our Magstripe card reader's decoder are capable to read the cards which were encoded by either 5 or 7 bits methods.

OEM, Private Labeling, Custom Cables, Connectors, and  Pin-Outs

We welcome OEM business.  Generally, all Tysso Magstripe card reader models are come without any of our company logo & information.  we are able to provide technical services for OEM requests such as private labeling, custom cabling, connectors (AMP9, DSUB, DIN, JST... and many more!), pin-outs, cable outlet, product coloring, custom slot length (4 cm, 9 cm, 10 cm, 17 cm), custom manual, and more... to fulfill our customer's business needs.

Unit Configurations

There are 2 configuration methods for Tysso Magstripe Card Readers which are:

a) Dip-Switch settings ( DIP-SWITCH is only available for Tysso MSR series)
Some of our customers prefer to configure the Magstripe unit by Dip-Switch settings since it requires no software operations, thus, they can also prevent the incorrect use of the configuration software which the end user's may sometimes accidentally overwrite the pre-configured settings .  However, the configuration options that the Dip-Switch can provide are limited,  please click here for more details

b) Win32 Configuration Utility :
The shipped Win32 Configuration utility is very Easy-to-Use. JIS-II Cards

The track for JISII cards shall be located in the area including two lines 6.3 mm and 11.7 mm from the top edge of the magnetic card but the encoded width in this track shall be more than 6 mm wide.
