Control Codes of the PDC
1. Red LED on the top case
2. Dual color LED on the top case
3. RS-232 communication port
4. DC power input port
5. On-off switches on the bottom case
Power-on indicator, it will be lit when
power is
applied and indicates that the PDC is
ready to
read data.
- Green color indicates good read.
- Orange color indicates data erase.
After collecting data, the user can
upload the
data through RS-232 port to PC.
The operating power of the PDC unit
should be
supported by 9VDC Alkaline battery or
AC-to-
DC adapter.
One switch [PWR] for power on-off.
One switch [BZR] for buzzer on-off.
There are 4 control codes of the PDC,
used to
operated the PDC through computer side,
under
DOS or Windows environment.
[ALT]238[ALT]49:
To show the last data
address.
[ALT]238[ALT]50:
To show the collected data
in PDC by using ASCII
code.
[ALT]238[ALT]51:
To show the last data in
PDC by using
Hexidecimal code.
[ALT]238[ALT]204: To erase all
collected data
in PDC.
Note: [ALT]238 means: to press and hold
the [ALT]
key on the PC keyboard, and press 2 3 8,
then
release [ALT] key. To input the other
control
codes is similar as above.
Operation Steps
1. Installation
2. Read and store data
3. Upload data to PC
(1) Connect the power cable to the PDC
unit by
plugging the cable-end jack into the
power
port of the PDC unit.
(2) Install the 9VDC battery to the
power cable-
end, then you can see the red LED will be
lit,
that indicates the PDC is ready for
reading
and collecting data.
Swipe the magstripe card by the correct
side, then
you can see the green LED will be
illuminated
when the card is successfully read by the
PDC unit,
and the data will be automatically stored
in the
memory of PDC.
(1) After collecting data in the field,
you can bring
back the PDC to PC side.
(2) Connect the PDC with PC by the
RS-232
communication cable, that one cable-end
with
plug jack connected to PDC's RS-232 port
and
the other cable-end with Dsub 9-pin
Female
connector connected to PC's serial port.
Be
sure your PC's RS-232 port should be set
at
19200, n, 8, 1 communication parameters.
(3) Run the bundled utility diskette in
PC's disk
drive, under Windows environment, you can
first select the PC COM PORT, then you
can
select the PDC download command either by
ASCII code or by Hexidecimal code.
Press [ENTER], then the collected data in
PDC will automatically download to PC and
you will see a data file, either ASCII.
dat or
HEX. dat, generated in your PC's file
system.
Note: The RS-232 communication baud rate
defaults at 19200, if you need to use
different
baud rate, you should to inform your
supplier
before delivering, the baud rate can only
be set
in factory.
Basic Configurations
